WHY IT MATTERS

The importance of getting your annual physical

Most people in Plano and Collin County feel too busy or too healthy to make a primary care appointment when nothing feels wrong. That's exactly the problem. High blood pressure, pre-diabetes, and elevated cholesterol develop quietly, with no symptoms or warning, for years before they become something you can't ignore.

At our Dallas Pkwy clinic, we see patients from Plano, West Plano, Legacy West, and across Collin County who want a doctor who knows their history, not a different urgent care face every time. An annual physical is 30 minutes that creates a real baseline — and gives you something concrete to build on.

Bring your medication list. Ask the questions you've been putting off. Leave with a plan that's actually yours.

Simple Process

Why a physical exam is worth your time

A yearly visit catches what you can't feel and builds the kind of health record that makes every future appointment more useful.

Know your numbers

Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, measured, reviewed, and put in context against your history year over year.

Catch it early

Most serious conditions like diabetes, hypertension, certain cancers, are far more treatable when found before symptoms appear.

Stay current on vaccines

Flu, Tdap, shingles, pneumonia — your annual visit keeps you up to date and lets us recommend what's actually relevant for your age.

Build a health record

A consistent doctor who sees you every year is infinitely more useful than one who meets you cold. Every visit adds context that future care depends on.

What to expect

What happens during your physical exam

A comprehensive physical takes about 30 minutes. Bring your current medication list and any records from prior providers. We walk through four areas.

EYES, EARS, SKIN

01

Observation

We examine your eyes, ears, nose, and throat using instruments, and assess your skin for color and any changes. Additional areas are reviewed based on your symptoms or history.

HANDS-ON

02

Palpation

Gentle touch to check organ size, shape, and any lumps or tenderness. This lets us evaluate areas that aren't visible but are important for catching changes early.

ABDOMEN

03

Percussion

We tap and listen to the abdomen to assess organ placement and detect any abnormal areas. It's quick, non-invasive, and gives a real-time picture of what's happening inside.

NEURO

04

Reflexes

A brief neurological check using a small rubber hammer. Simple and quick — confirms that your nervous system is responding as expected and flags anything unusual.

Specialized physicals

Not just annual checkups

We complete specialized physical exams for school athletics, employment requirements, and documentation needs — with paperwork handled during your visit.

Sports physicals

Students in grades 7–12 playing UIL athletics need a sports physical — typically required every two years. We recommend scheduling in May or June, before fall tryouts begin. We complete all required forms on the same visit.

Employer physicals

Pre-employment physicals and drug screening documentation for Plano and North Dallas businesses. If your employer requires specific forms or tests, bring the paperwork — we'll complete it during your appointment.

Documentation

School, camp, immigration, or organization-required documentation — if your exam needs to result in specific paperwork, our physicians can conduct the exam and complete what's needed in a single visit.
